About RV Electrical Guide
A reference, not a content factory
RV Electrical Guide is being built for owners, DIY builders, and van-conversion users who need to understand an RV electrical system, plan a change, or isolate a fault. It favors canonical topics, transparent calculators, source-backed explanations, and deterministic technical diagrams.
Search language helps us understand a user’s problem, but a wording variation does not automatically earn a separate page.
Who it is for
The explanations are intended to work for first-time owners while retaining the assumptions and limits that experienced DIY users need. We explicitly separate lower-voltage DC concepts from hazardous 120V AC work and state when testing should stop.
How trust is handled
Research begins with applicable sources and explicit assumptions. Calculations and diagrams use deterministic tests where the result can be reproduced. Publication gates become stricter as technical risk increases.
Read the complete research and validation process and editorial standard.
Not a substitute for applicable documentation
RV construction, battery chemistry, equipment revisions, and applicable electrical rules vary. The current manual for the exact equipment and qualified RV/electrical help take precedence where a mistake could damage equipment, cause fire, or create shock risk.
If something appears incorrect, use the process described on our corrections page.
